PAS KEDAH : A LEGACY OF UNNATURAL DESTRUCTION

Much have been said about the mistreatment of the pas-led Kedah State Government to Kedahans. If it weren’t for the projects carried out by the Al-Bukhary Group for the Federal Government, Kedahans would have witnessed a period of nothing but decays and rotting of the present infrastructure. While the double tracking project t and road-up-grading to Durian Burung are taking place, the normal roads in Kedah are left to rot. The pas Kedah State Government seemed unhinged as no effort has been taken to repair them. Perhaps after somebody dies from the terrible potholes, it looks like the holes are there to stay.

Since 1998, the strict land development requirements have made property developers to skip town, especially in Alor Setar. With property value in most parts in Sungai Petani still at a record low due to over-development, many developers headed to Kuala Lumpur, looking for greener pastures. Many developers are shocked to find that the pas government has given Belview (Sony Ho of Penang) a major chunk of state land and Tengku Yaakob’s for development. Many are still grumbling for the state’s decision not to give the development chance to anybody from Kedah. But now, they are very relieved that they’re not involved as the project oversteps its boundries and encroaches into a Waqf Land that is meant for Surau or Madrasah. In fact, many local Chinese developers, out of respect and superstition, prefer not to be involved in this mayhem.

We have read again and again on small businesses suffering in the hands of pas Kedah, especially Malay traders. Numerous times, the state government took action of demolishing small food stalls because it is illegal. This is a good move, if you’re in a cosmopolitan environment like Singapore, but the problem is, this is Kedah, where 80% of the stalls are owned by the Malays. Worse still, the state government led by pas seems to be prejudicially selective in where they choose to raid and demolish.

Demolition works were carried out in Kuala Nerang, Kulim and Alor Setar itself, where many Malay traders lost their main income. Even the building of Aman Central saw the ousting of several Malay stalls in the area, including the popular Atap rembia. Lately, the stalls in Taman PKNK has received warnings by the City Council to dismantle their stalls or face the consequences. Now Taman PKNK is a Malay majority housing area, understandably, all the stall owners are Malays. For more than a decade, the stalls there became a happening area with big crowds at night, especially on weekends. Once pas took over, the stalls received warnings every now and then.

In contrast to the case, another area which has a lot of stalls, and quite a happening area, but at daytime, is at Jalan Tengku Abdul Halim. Not many people in Alor Setar know this name, so, I’ll rephrase it to jalan Market Koboi. It has a Chinese majority, with old shops and an old market, which is very dirty (especially the drains), littered with stray dogs and a garbage dumping area behind it. The stalls are located about 50-60 meters away. Although the traffic has always been bogged down by the market and the stalls’ customers, nobody has ever seen anybody from City Council coming in even to assess the situation. In the past few months, the stalls made their structures more permanent. They have been operating there for more than 20 years without any interference from the State Government.

It is strange that pas chose to create such enemies with small stall owners in Malay areas, consisting of Malays. Perhaps knowing that Chinese voters’ loyalty can shift like standing in mud made pas press the Malays more. Ironically, according to some stall-owners, pas candidates use to stop for a drink or two at their stalls while campaigning at the same time. Now, the same person who won the state seat suddenly turned his back on them. Well, I guess he feels better turning his back on the Malay stall owners rather than anwar.

So far, nothing has been achieved by the pas government, despite their empty drum clanging antics. They had claimed that they built Menara Ukir, but people knew the project started 2 years before pas took over. They claimed that they built a university which sent people laughing and rolling on the floor because it is Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar’s project. Even the much acclaimed Insaniah College Campus in Kuala Ketil stopped after the ground-breaking ceremony. To counter all those, and to leave a lasting legacy in Kedah, pas has decided to build Aman Central, which, on paper, is to leave a long-lasting impression that pas is a party for all…yes, jews included.

Somehow, anything by pas seems to be a bane to Malays and Muslims of Kedah. In chasing their dreams, another scandal was born when pas wanted to demolish a 102-year old surau (Madrasah Salihiah) and reclaim the Waqf land so that a shopping mall can be built on it. It seems that pas cannot turn away from demolishing and/or destroying anything belonging to the Muslims and Malays. Trying to soothe the Muslims’ dissatisfaction, pas Kedah sent its war dogs to paint a disrepute image of the Madrasah Salihiah. Blogs from the likes of the comfortably-sponsored Kedah La Nie, the blogger Saiburi Sudin (plagiarized from Dr Sobri Sudin’s name, but Saiburi Sudin’s writing…well, he can’t even pass off as a university janitor), where they huffed and they puffed, but only managed to blow pas’ cheap toupee down. How could pas debate on this issue? While they talk slanderous things (as usual) about the surau, people are talking about the Waqf land. Still, it is a normal situation where, during a cock-fight, pas comes in with a duck.

Who is pas for? They don’t even seem to care about Kedahans. Even those stall-owners who were staunch pas supporters had to admit that Umno/BN has never disturbed their businesses, in fact, they were known to bring more business to them. Those in pas Kedah, maybe are too busy demolishing something to realize that.

In the same vein, Kedahans complaint previously that UMNO was getting too comfortable and callous about the people’s plight after more than 50 years in power in Kedah. Now, they admit that pas, within 4 years, struck the unnatural disaster in almost anything they do, and the victims? The Malays and Muslims. What is all this for, and for whom do the bells toll? We know pas has nothing to do with Islam, let alone stand for justice and/or Malays. Why does pas Kedah bring so much destruction?

In short, Kedahans have opened both their eyes and have seen pas Kedah for what they are: Pas did not come to build, they are here to destroy.

Who would ever thought that a sleeping MB, his golf-addicted excos, his misleading information exco and the never-seen pakatan state assemblymen can bring so much disaster and destruction to Kedah?

Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat 3 - Smoke Up In Their A**es

As predicted, today we can see a lot of arrivals in Alor Setar, and as expected a lot are from the east coast. What's so strange about it? Everytime pas and/or pakatan makes a convention, rally or even the normal ceramah, imported audiences had to be brought in. I saw a number of buses with D plates coming in from the highway this afternoon. Yes, the Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat 3 is coming to town...now if only they can get the ACTUAL Kedahans to attend.

It has been shown that pakatan never really get any support from Kedah as pas Kedah is too busy wrangling their own problems. The last 100,000 rally (or something like that) did achieve close to 100,000, although only 5-8% are actually from Kedah. Looks like this is going to be an expensive affair again. Paid spectators, having to pay extra for acting purposes on their net tv, food, travel and accomodation expenses etc etc. Looks like Azizan might have to answer to anwar on why Kedah does not support pakatan.

It's not something new. As I have mentioned again and again, pas Kedah has no time for anwar. They need the win, but they do not need the tushee-stabbing sword. Most of pas Kedah were just waiting for anwar to be thrown in jail, some even would be happy if they can kick him in themselves. When anwar was freed, there was a commotion at Wisma Darulaman, and strangely, there were no cheers of joy, most were shocked by the release and many of them were asking WHY he was released.

For azizan, the convention will be quite a relief for him. Issues of over-logging, non-maintenance of infrastructure, downward-spiralling economy and zero-development are haunting him. What worries him and Amirrudin more is that people of Kedah know the truth about the "clean" process in dealing with the waqf land, and how pas is trying so hard to demolish a 102-year old surau. They have tried all their best to divert the issue by condemning the surau, its purpose, structure and use and try their best to stray the people's mind away from the actual issue: using the waqf land to build a shopping complex when the waqf was to be used as a surau. By  support shown from the sponsored audiences, it might just relieve him of the headaches...maybe his heart, blood pressure and sugar level too.

I am not sure whether the dingbat known as mahfuz will be there, but since anwar is there, maybe he will as anwar is the only key factor for him to topple azizan.

The convention will be a great opportunity to veil the eyes of Kedahans, especially when everybody knows the tension is flaring between pakatan's leader with the other.

The attendance of anwar, as expected, will be his roadshow trying to show how he worked hard to free himself, despite the fact everybody saw him cowering behind evereybody and desperately launching the violent bebas anwar 901. Kedahans know for a fact that Azizan detests anwar, and he wouldn't even look at him during their last meeting, let alone try to touch him with a big stick. Is it really worth the acting when everybody knows?

Even if Haji hadi attends, there is no actual purpose. Hadi has the old grudge where azizan cooly swiped him off for instructing Kedah to implement pas' hudud. Of course it makes no difference if n.ajis comes. Azizan has never been a conformist to these two laurel and hardy. He has always remarked the same way to the two by stating that they should look and take care of their homes first before telling other people. Not being a conformist to pas, and even seeking advice from Tun Mahathir really drew flak, especially from green-stomachs like mahfuz, who vengeance for not being able to defeat Tun in anyway whatsoever still burns. Anyway, with the sacking of Hasan Ali from pas for defending Islam, hadi and n.ajis might just find themselves stepping into a pile of bull...crap.

Lim Kit Siang makes the strangest name in the list. How would a so-called-Islamic party like pas accept a socialist like kit siang...or malam. DAP has a bigger grudge on azizan. The sole dap rep has always been kicked around by pas Kedah, usually being left out to dry in the dark. Yes, yes, it's quite similar to what dap does to pas in Selangor and Penang, but that is okay because dap is doing it. Even the usual threat by dap over the demolition of the illegal pig processing center was simply squashed by azizan. That particular dap rep (I don't even know his name) has so far yelled, shouted, jumped and made so much noise, but nobody still bothers about him. With dap so far supporting movements against Islam, I don't think they'll be welcomed anywhere near Surau Salihiah, but we know they'll be welcomed more at the new shopping complex site.

So, is the convention really for the people? Judging from the laughter heard around Kedah when anwar said that his victory is prople's victory, I would take a stab at saying it's not. Each of them has their own agenda, and with each of them having something to stab azizan about, I don't think azizan should even be there. I am not sure about the rumour that azizan might step down on that day as MB, but I know Phahrolrazi is bringing a lot of his people to the convention. Amirrudin too, will be bringing his people...although I'm not sure whether they'll be men or the men's spouses.

Well, within pakatan, and even within pas Kedah, Azizan could not find refuge. Maybe it's his wrong moves, maybe because he chose the toe-twinkling che had as economic advisor, or maybe it's just retribution for his decision on Surau Salihiah.

I received word that security will be tight there. Anybody who brings in anything about Surau Salihiah will be severely dealt with, and anybody who questions anwar's morality will be dealt with even worse. Well, what do you expect? This is democracy, anwar-style. There are talks of heads going to roll as well. Whose? Don't know, we'll see.

Maybe we should all go to the convention, but don't forget to bring the "Save Surau Salihiah" and "Anwar Peliwat" posters and banners. Bring along the "Welcome To The New World Order" t-shirt as well. Oh yes, please lock your sons and daughters at home before leaving for this event.

Madrasah Salihiah: Ghani's Excuses Full of Tripe

I was reading again the article from Sinar where the Kedah State Exco, Abdul Ghani was giving statementys on why Madrasah Salihiah should be demolished. Below are the points simplified from his rambling excuses:

1) Surau won't be lost - demolish 1 and get 2 in the shopping complex

2) No congregation, no prayers were held in jamaah

3) Surau only open at Zohor and Asar

4) Surau is not 102 years old

5) Madrasah Salihiah is NOT a House of Allah because it doesn't meet the requirements

Based on the points derived, it's clear that he was trying to downplay the status of the surau there and divert attention from the actual matter: the waqf land.

The waqf land where the Madrasah stands was bequeathed more than 100 years ago with the niat for a surau or a mosque to be built there. Even without the surau, buildings meant for other than Islamic religious activities are not permitted.

Ghani's attempt to blindswipe the public by comparing the project to Al-Bukhary Complex was downright stupid...which is not that surprising. The actual waqf land where the original Masjid Alor Malai stood is now empty, surrounded by the Muslim cemetery. Souq Al-Bukhary is NOT located there.

Let me give you another example. Pas supporters love to go to Masjid Al-Irfan, or better known as Masjid Derga as they feel that the friday sermon there is a bit more political than the others which are too religious. As they come in the entrance gate, they will notice that the entrance is semi-circle in shape, with pavement and with seats, other than that, the wide entrance has nothing, oh yes, a very small area parking. The entrance to the parking in front of the mosque is actually where the original Masjid Derga used to stand before it was demolished and a bigger mosque was built. Tell you what, Ghani, why don't you take that waqf land and  use it either to sell kacang putih, your load of tripe or better yet, open a karaoke pub & grill, maybe you can pray that Haji Hamid won't chase you out with a huge stick.

My point is: it is a waqf land, how do you justify building a shopping complex all the way right down to the waqf land? The 2 examples given show that even after demolition, the land was left empty, no shopping complex, no markas pas etc. Ghani has not given any reasonable justification, just the usual gibberish on how the end justifies its means. Still with the "matlamat menghalalkan cara."

So how much did the developer ACTUALLY pay for the land which a portion of it was used to compensate the heirs? RM1.48m is too little for a prime land located in the city under the commercial zoning, isn't it?

Anyway, why the surau? How come the church is not involved? Is the old surau sticking out like a sore thumb outside the modern-designed shopping complex? Will the call to prayer sound too odd for the shoppers in the mall? It is strange that Ghani condemns the surau in almost each and every statement that he made, but deviates away from the status of the waqf land. He can condemn, spit, lie as usual and even huff, puff and blow his own cheap toupee down, but the actual status of the waqf land has been breached by PIS so that they can have a development that they can show during the elections.

So there's no 24/7 jamaah activity, the status of the land remains the same.

Even if Madrasah Salihiah is not considered a surau proper by PIS' standards, there are still religious activities going on there, and the status of the waqf land remains the same.


With all that, which mosque would you like to compare your project to now?

We have just received news that Persatuan Kerabat DiRaja Kedah (PKDK), led by Datuk Tengku Zainol Rashid Tengku Yahya has joined the wagon to oppose the demolition of Madrasah Salihiah. Here are the excerpts from his statement:

"Saya dilahir dan dibesarkan di bandar raya ini dan saya rasa sejak kecil lagi Madrasah Salihiah sudah wujud di Kancut.

"Apabila kerajaan negeri mahu merobohkan madrasah ini, saya sebagai anak jati Alor Setar berasa sedih kerana kerajaan negeri langsung tidak prihatin dengan nilai sejarah yang ada pada madrasah tersebut.

"Madrasah Salihiah patut dibiarkan beroperasi ditapak asal jika kerajaan negeri tetap mahu meneruskan projek pembangunan di kawasan tersebut.

"Di dalam kompleks beli-belah pihak pemaju memang perlu sediakan surau, jadi jangan jadikan alasan surau yang akan dibina ini menjadi ganti kepada Madrasah Salihiah yang telah lama wujud di Kedah," - Tengku Zainol Rashid

I guess by now, Azizan, Ghani and the whole PIS-led state government are really PIS-sed off, but they are still being PIS-sed on.

Madrasah Salihian: PIS' Dressing Up Act Gets A Dressing Down

When they announced the redevelopment of the Tengku Yaakob Plaza, everybody was quite pleased to see that finally the 35+ year old abandoned project has finally given a new light, albeit with a developer whose credentials are quite well known in Penang which drove him here. The developer has vowed to create the plaza as "The O)rchard Road" of Alor Setar...hopefully without the transexuals...

Where is the actual project? Here's a google satellite image to further illustrate:

2) The area marked in light blue is the area taken over by the developer and PKNK to develop as part of the shopping complex

It's quite strange to see that the original complex has nothing to do with the areas outside of Tengku Yaakob's original plan. Still, whatever it is, PIS is very determined to demolish the 102 year old Madrasah Salihiah. In fact, their exco, Ghani has given the excuses on why. Most of what he said are rhetoric and formulaic, but I find these statement quite boggling. Here are the excerpts:

This statement really caught my attention: “Masjid Alor Malai pernah dirobohkan untuk bangunkan kompleks Al-Bukhari, yang menempatkan kompleks perniagaan. Sebuah masjid baru dibina bukan atas tapak lama, tetapi di lokasi lain dengan kaedah istibdal, sama seperti kaedah Madrasah Salihiah,” katanya.

As usual, pas tries to justify its means by relating the issue to something which sounds similar but not even close to being the same. For this, allow me to illustrate with the picture below:

Circled in white is the actual site of Masjid Alor Malai. The land was made waqf by Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar's grandfather, with the niat for an Islamic worshiping place, in short, a surau or a mosque. The waqf land is the mosque a part of the surrounding Islamic cemetery, and that's it. The claim by Ghani stating that a building for commercial activity (shopping complex) was never built on the waqf land. Souq Al-Bukhary is built on a patch of land which was once a wet market, bought by Yayasan Al-Bukhary from the former Majlis Perbadaran Kota Setar. In short, it was already a place of commercial activity, enhanced by Yayasan to be a bigger and more prominent business complex. You can find Giant, Bank Muamalat, DRB-Hicom and retail outlets there.

The Kompleks Al-Bukhary consists of the Al-Bukhary Mosque, administration complex, an orphanage dormitory and the Al-Bukhary International University, and these too, are not built on the waqf land. The complex, the mosque and the university is not connected to the shopping complex either.

There is no business activity at the complex, so how can an Exco for Kedah State Government cannot recognize the difference between the mosque, the complex and the souq? Or is it really he couldn't recognize. So, is this another one of pis' method of informing people by misinforming them? Or is this another one of pis' "menghalalkan cara?" Or maybe pas just had to keep the money?

By the way, if the surau is replaced as a seperate building, why demolish it in the first place? If the new shopping center is as shown, where will the surau be? Basement? Or is it in the parking bay? Don't you think religious activities other than praying with the congregation be affected? Will there be any teenagers joining the congregation with all those shopping mall activities going on? If there are musical events there, will it affect the religious activities there? I thought PIS always promote religious events, but maybe the next tilawah will be organized by pas in a karaoke lounge, next to the cocktail bar.

By the way, Ghani said that those who came to protest are from Taman Wira Mergong. Does he know that a number of descendants of the man who left the waqf land actually live there? But as an exco, I don't think he spends his time researching.

The Kompleks Al-Bukhary and Souq Al-Bukhary were never an issue. It is true that it was done in the istibdal way, where the old Alor Malai mosque was demolished so that a bigger, Al-Bukhary mosque was built but, no part of the complex and the shopping bazaar/souq were ever built on the waqf land. To PIS (Party Islam Se-Malaysia), never ever justify your wrongdoings with issues that never were. Stop blinding people in one eye, that is just un-Islamic...but then again, whoever said that PIS was Islamic ever? All we know now is that, the PIS-sed off Parti Islam Se-Malaysia Kedah is getting PIS-sed on.

Where is that Imam Mahadi of Permatang Pauh with his bent sword? Is he coming to serve justice by ramming his sword into people's...err..back?

As Pas Clowns Around, The Madrasah Shall Fall...

Just like pas to have it their way, not in a religious way. To them, the end justify the means, or shall i say it more approproately, matlamat menghalalkan cara. To me, this is never a surprise, remembering that pas has always bowed to their old codger called nik ajis, who always try hard to claim himself as an ulama.

I remembered how n.ajis stated that it is alright to use money contributed by the jewish-controlled NED to operate Bersih 2.0 because in the end, Malaysia will be free...of course, we have no idea from what. Yes, maybe free from Barisan but right into the hands of the New World Order. It doesn't even matter if the money comes from the same piggy bank that is used to fund the unrest in the middle east and killing of more Palestinians in Palestine, the end justifies its means.

There are times that we feel humbled, especially when we enter God's house, where we see how insignificant we are and how everybody is equal as you are. Of course, with pas as a religion, that can be very hard. Why is that so? Well, anybody who chooses pas as their path instead of Islam usually has their status elevated to that of an ulama' or at least Ustaz (teacher).

Take Bob "The Clown" Lokman for example. Many people consider him the king of clown on the networks, but now his status has been elevated, he is now a high priest of pas, branding Johoreans infidels and so on. In short, he is now the chief clown of the masses, equal to mahfuz omar. The choice of bob, mat sapu, mahfuz as leaders of a so-called religious party only goes to show how close we are the prophecy on the end of days, where people who are not even educated religiously (or primarily) will be appointed to lead the Muslims or a group of Muslims.

A man passed away, bequeathing his land to his children/heir, intends its use as a surau/madrasah, and along comes pas with a high-profiled developer, wanting to demolish the madrasah so that a shopping mall can be built. Of course DAP will not step in, unless pas is destroying a nature conservation and replaced with a parking lot. Is the need for a shopping center that great for pas that it chooses to sacrifice the madrasah? What type of kebajikan is that?

Madrasah Salihiah was built in 1909 on a wakaf land. For 102 years the madrasah has become the religious point for its qariah within 5-8km radius, and now, after a century or so, the Pas State Government sent a notice to vacate the building so that it can be demolished. Say, weren't they the ones who made such a big noise to have the old, rotting shophouses in Penang NOT to be demolished for heritage's sake? But then, dap has always been self-centered, racist and selfish anyway.

It is quite strange that in 2010, the Jawatankuasa Fatwa Kedah declared that the madrasah should be preserved and continue its religious activities. But what is Jawatankuasa Fatwa Kedah against the might of a party who has the power to brand non-pas supporters as heretics and infidels? Pas is indeed the all powerful, never do wrong, never make mistake kind of people...most of them with one eye blind.

According to the state government, the madrasah will be replaced by a surau in the shopping complex. Savvy, huh?

It's a sad affair, the revered Sultan Kedah is now KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agung for the 2nd time in his life, and the state government, controlled by seemingly professional and religious people, giving a black eye to Islam so that they can have their "Orchard Road of Alor Setar."

Perhaps it is the time for many in pas to return to Islam as their way of life. Just maybe, maybe, they can find a way to make the end justify its means when they answer to the Everlasting?

DYMM Sultan Kedah Is Malaysia's New King...Kedah Sejahtera Now?

 Historically, one might simply assume that Kedah is a sad and morose state. Despite being the first state on the peninsular to receive Islam, Kedah spent years and years of political interference, mostly from Siam...well, actually from Ligor (where Narathiwat is now). The Raja of Ligor attacks Kedah quite a lot, in the name of the King of Siam. Honestly, the king had no idea what Raja Ligor was up to until much later.

Kedah was one of the biggest state on the Malay Peninsula, that include Setol (Kedah: Setoi, Thai: Satun) and Jala (Thai: Yala). However, with the Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909, the two provinces were ceded to Siam, despite the British's attempt to keep it within Kedah. The Siamese King claimed that 2 provinces contain a large number of Siamese population. Of course, in reality, there were (are) more than 88% Malay population in that area.

The British could not have done better: they tricked the Sultan of Kedah into leasing Pulau Pinang to the disoriented buccaneer, Francis Light, and later parts of the mainland, now known as Butterworth. When Siam ceded Kedah to the British, for the first time Kedah had an Advisor to the State Government. Why Advisor, I never knew, because he never gives advice, he orders and dictates, and everybody is expected to bow to his wishes. When the British built a road from Kuala Ketil to Kulim (rubber industrial area), Kedah had no money to pay them. For that, the British ceded parts of south Kedah to the Federated Malay States, namely Parit Buntar.

Historically, Kedah is one of the most abused state by foreign powers.

It must also be said that, despite all of that, Kedah gave Malaysia 2 leaders who shaped Malaysia: Tengku Abdul Rahman and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The two of them shaped Malaysia prominently, one who achieved independece for Malaysia from the thieving british, and one who modernized Malaysia and slapped the west at the same time.

At midnight, 13th of December 2011, Kedah again made history when the Sultan of Kedah, KDYMM Tengku Abdul Halim Muazzam Shah, became the KDYMM Yang Dipertuan Agung for the 2nd time. The first time he held that position was between 1970 to 1975. The rotation came to a full circle in 36 years, and Tengku Abdul Halim stepped into annals of Malaysia history when he was proclaimed the Yang Dipertuan Agung again, as the article below, from Utusan Malaysia: 

KUALA LUMPUR 13 Dis. – Sultan Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah hari ini melafaz sumpah memegang jawatan sebagai Yang di-Pertuan Agong ke-14 dalam upacara penuh adat istiadat di Istana Negara di sini.

Ini merupakan kali kedua baginda dipilih sebagai Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Kali pertama ialah dari 21 September 1970 hingga 20 September 1975 semasa berusia 43 tahun.

Tuanku Abdul Halim, 84, dipilih oleh Raja-Raja Melayu pada Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-Raja yang ke-226 (Khas) di Istana Negara pada 14 Oktober lepas untuk tempoh lima tahun berkuat kuasa hari ini, bagi menggantikan Sultan Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin yang tamat tempoh pemerintahan sebagai Yang di-Pertuan Agong ke-13 semalam.

Sistem penggiliran Yang di-Pertuan Agong dalam kalangan sembilan Raja Melayu dimulakan sejak negara merdeka pada 31 Ogos 1957.

Istiadat hari ini merupakan istiadat seumpamanya yang pertama kali diadakan di Istana Negara yang baru dibina bercirikan binaan Islam dan tradisional Melayu di kawasan seluas 96.52 hektar yang mula beroperasi pada 15 November lepas.

Upacara bermula pada pukul 11.15 pagi dengan Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-Raja ke-227 (Khas) sempena Istiadat Melafaz Sumpah Memegang Jawatan dan Menandatangani Surat Sumpah Jawatan oleh baginda di Balairong Seri.

Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-Raja itu dipengerusikan Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja, Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad kemudian menyembah surat sumpah jawatan kepada Tuanku Abdul Halim yang memakai pakaian Diraja Kedah yang dikenali sebagai Sikap terdiri daripada jaket pendek, berbelah di hadapan dan berkolar tinggi lengkap dengan tenggolok, seluar, sampin dan bengkung serta berkeris.

Baginda kemudian melafazkan sumpah jawatan dan menandatangani surat sumpah jawatan itu di hadapan Majlis Raja-Raja.

Sultan Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah dan Sultan Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah menjadi saksi.

Istiadat hari ini juga melibatkan upacara melafaz sumpah dan menandatangani surat sumpah jawatan sebagai Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong oleh Sultan Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V.

Ia diikuti bacaan doa dipimpin oleh Imam Besar Masjid Negara, Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad.

Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja, Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad kemudian memohon menangguhkan Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-Raja ke suatu masa yang ditetapkan.

Ini disusuli istiadat menandatangani surat pengisytiharan memegang jawatan oleh Tuanku Abdul Halim sebagai Yang di-Pertuan Agong, diikuti dengan pembacaan pengisytiharan tersebut oleh Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Istiadat diteruskan dengan Sultan Muhammad V menandatangani surat pengisytiharan memegang jawatan sebagai Timbalan Yang di-Pertuan Agong dan diikuti dengan Najib membaca pengisytiharan tersebut.

Istiadat hari ini dihadiri oleh Raja-Raja Melayu kecuali Terengganu yang diwakili Tengku Sri Temenggong, Raja Tengku Baharuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah.

Turut hadir kesemua empat Yang Dipertua Negeri, Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, menteri-menteri kabinet serta ketua-ketua jabatan. – BERNAMA

There are certain quarters of pas who already banging their empty cans and telling those who gave them time, that it is during pas' rule that the Sultan of Kedah becomes the YDP Agung. Well, I guess they forgot to mention that it is during their rule also that the flood got worse, water supply got so bad, the road got so many potholes to be counted and the water catchment areas of Pedu and Sik got so bald.

Kedahans are very proud, the state produced 2 Prime Ministers, a number of top administrators in the government, and now their Sultan is the YDP Agung for the second time. Of course, pas can also brag that produced two nitwits from the north, such as mahfuz and mat sapu.

Kedahans have wished prosperity, a happy and eventful reign, and to safely carry out his royal duties as the Yang Dipertuan Agung. It is with that hope and wishes, and humble pride, Kedahans look forward to the state government to provide a better infrastructure, a solid utilities and maintenance system and good governance, because so far, with what the state government under azizan has given, it's all wishful thinking.

In the meantime, we offer our sincere and humble congratulations to KDYMM Tengku Abdul Halim Muazzam Shah to be proclaimed the 14th Yang Dipertuan Agung of Malaysia, the second time in his reign.

Pas Kedah's Stinging In The Gain?

There are reasons why pas of the old used to criticize entertainment dens, there are reasons why the previous Kedah State Governments limited the number of entertainment premises in Kedah. Of course, we are sure that the present Kedah pas government have their own reasons why they increased the number of entertainment premises in Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and even Kulim.

One of the unspoken reason is the terribly open secret of Kedah pas government being broke. After all the honeymoon, they really need to refill their coffers...hmmm, I wonder where all the money from the timber industry went to? Well, I'm sure it can't be worse than spending the millions sent for Kedah agriculture sector by the Federal Government by opening 7 hectares of banana plantation, eh Azizan?

Well, among the worst reasons were stated by Phahrolrazi, yes, when he said that entertainment centers permits were given because there a demand for it. I understand that entertainment taukehs are still laughing about it to the bank.

With more entertainment outlets sprouting up in Alor Setar, is there any surprise to the news cutting below:

Pusat karaoke di Kota Setar yang diserbu pada Jumaat lalu selepas didakwa turut menyediakan khidmat seks.

KUALA LUMPUR - Rungutan orang ramai mengenai gelagat wanita warga asing yang bekerja sebagai pegawai perhubungan pelanggan (GRO) yang didakwa turut menawarkan khidmat seks di sebuah pusat karaoke di Kota Setar, Kedah sejak setahun lalu mungkin berakhir apabila 18 pelacur warga asing itu dicekup dalam satu serbuan khas pada Jumaat lalu.

Satu sumber dari Cawangan Perjudian, Kongsi Gelap dan Maksiat (D7) berkata, sebelum serbuan pada pukul 11.45 malam polis menerima banyak aduan mengenai kehadiran wanita-wanita berpakaian seksi dan mengenakan solekan tebal berpelesiran dalam premis itu bermula pada waktu petang untuk memancing pelanggan-pelanggan masuk ke pusat hiburan itu.

Kegiatan wanita warga asing itu didakwa orang ramai mengganggu 'persekitaran' di kawasan sekitar selain menjejaskan imej Kota Setar.

Berikutan itu, sumber itu berkata, seramai 20 anggota termasuk 10 pegawai menyerbu pusat hiburan itu dan menahan 18 wanita dipercayai pelacur dan 35 pelanggan yang berada di dalam pusat hiburan itu.

"Ketika serbuan, sebahagian daripada pelacur sedang ghairah melayan pelanggan masing-masing," kata sumber itu ketika dihubungi Kosmo! di sini semalam.

Sumber itu memberitahu, 18 warga asing yang ditahan melibatkan seorang warga Myanmar dan 17 lagi wanita China masing-masing berusia 20 hingga 30-an.

Ujian saringan air kencing yang dilakukan terhadap 35 pelanggan berusia antara 23 hingga 58 tahun yang ditahan mendapati sepuluh daripada mereka positif dadah.

Wanita warga asing didakwa menawarkan khidmat seks kepada pelanggannya dengan mengenakan bayaran RM45 sejam.

"Pelacur boleh dibawa pulang ke rumah atau dibawa ke hotel untuk khidmat seks.

"Malah pelanggan juga boleh menggunakan bilik di pusat karaoke untuk mendapat khidmat seks," katanya dengan memberitahu pusat karaoke itu mempunyai 14 buah bilik.

Difahamkan, premis tersebut telah diserbu dua kali oleh polis.

Pusat hiburan itu mempunyai lesen dan ia dimiliki seorang penduduk tempatan.

Not bad, enter these premises, you'll be treated to a buffet line, and we're not talking about food here. Not to mention, they also have tapau (take-away) service as well; whichever you want, you can always take one, or a few (depending if you can knick knack paddywhack, give a dog a bone twice in 20 minutes) to your designated place of stay. I wonder they serve guys too, if you get my drift?

Pas will never have any second thoughts about this, they always know that pas never had any hint of Islam in their party. Yes, yes, they can bandage their head with turbans or towel from Grand Continental, it still doesn't make them Islamic. Three years of pas rule - no improvement for the Muslims, more entertainment outlets that sells liquor...hmmm, now that we can see how much vice is in demand, maybe pas can set up a brothel too. I'm sure the money's good. Nothing to worry about, if people complaint that it's not Islamic, just tell them that this is the new era of the Pas Erdogans. Some wrinkled goats like n.ajis will agree of course. Why not? He's been an MB to Serambi Maksiat for the past few decades.

Oh yes, can somebody tell phahrolrazi to stop this entertainment outlet nonsense? I don't think we'll get VIP customers like Mr Y to start patronizing. Our hotels are too small, and everybody knows everybody here; yes, very difficult. But I'm sure that if he does, always make sure the state provides complimentary towel, toothbrush and mineral water for him. We understand that we did complaint about the state economy that has been grounded to a halt for the past 2 years, and we understand that people now have no need to drive to Thailand anymore for entertainment and women (or men), but this is hardly the right way to regenerate the economy.

So, Was kommt als nächstes, pas?

The Impotance Of Wanting Needs

In many parts of Kedah back in the 1970s, people used to know pas as a group of terrorists who stels shoes and slippers when UMNO members were having meeting inside one of their leaders' houses. There was a time when pas claimed that they are more Islamic than Islam. There were times when pas fought for the basic human rights such as freedom to practise their religion, democracy and election...wait, that existed even just before Independence...what the heck were they complaining about? Most times pas kedah showed the people of Kedah that they are nothing but hot air. In 2008, pas began their rule over Kedah and proven themselves to be who they are always: hot air.

Hey, what are you complaining about? You don't expect me to lie, do you? If lies are what you want to hear, you are free to attend anwar ibrahim, mahfuz and/or mat sapu's ceramahs.

I remember the days when pas used to criticize the vice activities and entertainment outlets that sell liquor. Also included was how the state government love to waste money on social activities that encourages vice. Now that they're ruining...oops...running the state, they made the necessary changes that they've always fought for: more karaoke bars, more pubs, more social activities at night and no religious program....hold it! Shouldn't they be doing the reverse of it? Or did I read the program wrong? No, it's corrent. There are more emtertainment outlets and bars under pas than 50 years of Barisan rule put together.

You can drive all around Alor Setar and Sungai Petani and think that you are somewhere in Sadao. Karaoke bars sprouted like mushrooms. You might think they're illegal, but they're not - the state issued permits for them., along with the rights to sell and serve liquor. If UMNO does this...wow, there'll be a roadshow by pas, but since it's pas, I guess, in the religion of pas, it is okay.

The explanation by the MB-heir-apparent, Phahrolrazi is quite perplexing when compared to what the scenario in Kedah since 2008. Phahrolrazi said that the karaoke bars with liquor are permitted "in accordance to the needs."

We would love to ask the future head-cheese on the other needs but never given the time by him and the rest of the goons in pas Kedah, but then again, we wouldn't want him to injure himself by thinking, so let's look into some of the basic ones.

We will always need water. Kedah has one of the largest water reserves in the peninsular, and provides Penang and Perlis as well...without them paying a single cent. But why is water supply so bad since 2008? Nobody is asking for better tasting water, or free water (hmmm, why not); all Kedahans want is water, clean and pure, with good pressure flowing through their plumbings for their daily needs. All Kedahans got was an increase by 25% in water tariffs with the same amount of crappy service. Maybe the clowns at SADA should have the water supply to their houses rationed, then they will understand what Kedahans are talking about. Yes, yes, I know that liquors are liquid too, but putting the obvious religios factor aside, I still feel that it's wrong to bathe, wash and clean with anything that is below 90% proof alcohol. The smell might not be tolerayed either and smokers might find themselves in danger of spontaneos combustion.

Many Kedahans felt proud when DYMM Yang Dipertuan Agung made a royal visit to Kedah. Many more are happier to see damages in the road fixed overnight after 3 years of nothingness from the state government. Luckily, the Federal Government allocated funds to the state for the royal visit. Unbelievably, in all the area involved, thrash were taken on time, and in some cases, before the household can even manage to fill their trash can with garbage. Pot-holes disappeared, Uneven roads that used to be puddle-laden disappeared and even illegal stalls that usually litters the area vanished. For those few days, those Kedahans felt like they were back in the times when pas was nothing but a foul stench...although they still are stinking themselves up. Fix the roads, Kedahans are tired having to fix their tyres and suspensions for their vehicles.

We understand that the road from DYMM Sultan Kedah's palace to Wisma Darulaman is well maintained, but we noticed that the road from the MB's house is too. He should be more public-minded, then again, we don't want to rouse him from his 14-hour nap.

Who knows whether the MB-designate Phahrolrazi really knows what he's talking about. The needs and wants of people are 2 different matters. Is karaoke bars a need or a want? Nasic ameneties should be in the prime numeral in following up in what Kedahans needs. A state exco should know what people's basic needs are...no, we don't need mahfuz and/or anwar. The 2 basic needs listed are still nowhere resolved and pas is already in the 4th year of rule. We didn't even touch on crime, economy and religion yet. Well, maybe you are learning so much from your would-be predecessor, or mentor, Azizan. In that case, sweet dreams, and sorry to disturb your sleep. You can always try Azizan's private chambers at Kulim Hi-Tech, the bed is extremely comfy.

In Mahfuz We Thrust

Kedahans are quite relieved to see their favorite Hijau Kuning team getting back on track...well, at the moment, they're at the 5th place in the Super League Table. They're no Arsenal but hey, it definitely is much better than one or two months ago when they were ranked between "My grandma can kick better" and "Go home and join netball team".

There have been talks lately of a plot to takeover the Kedah FA (KFA). Secret meetings were held, moves plotted, positions targeted. That sounds normal, but what worries Kedahans more is the quality of the mastermind...yes, none other than the betel-munching, red spitting mahfuz omar. He already held a few meetings with a few minor KFA officials at Restoran Mama in Jalan Sultanah...well, mahfuz might think it's a top secret meeting, but having the meeting at a packed restaurant with people in KFA uniforms? Go figure. Quoting from a Hijau Kuning fan, he said that with a greaseball like mahfuz helming the KFA, the Kedah team will soon be playing in the estate league.

Maybe mahfuz should realize that he should at least know something about football before plotting a takeover. Rumours of mahfuz getting lost in the stadium football field remains unfounded so far.

But who is he fooling anyway? With MB Azizan's men taking a beating at pas kedah's divisions elections  and Amiruddin busy planting his people into various positions in the state, mahfuz wouldn't want to be left behind in the race to boot Azizan out and be the next Menteri Besar. No surprises there...he's been attempting to wrest that seat since 1999, but Pas Kedah keeps bundling him out to parliament.

Kedahans know for a fact that you can never put mahfuz, azizan and amiruddin in the same room without a free-for-all. While Amiruddin is backed by anti-Azizan-Phahrolrazi faction, mahfuz is much promoted by the pro-pkr faction of pas...or in short, anwar ibrahim and his cohorts.  That might be something Kedahans might find hard to swallow.

For mahfuz, wresting the KFA seat will be a first firm grip on Kedah. A position in Bina Darulaman has proven that he cannot simply get what he demands. But how far this new road will take him, nobody can guarantee anything.

Maybe he should try getting to know the people first. Kedahans love leaders who are close to them. Maybe he can explain to them why he could not be contacted when his constituents called for help during the floods of 2010, and maybe explain where in the world he was during that time. There are some of his constituents who would like to know why he only gave out aid to selected flood victims in that particular area only. At least we can see other State Assemblymen showing themselves during the floods, like the state assemblyman in Kuala Kedah area who goes out daily during the floods with boxes of mineral water and returns every evening with the same amount, or the other one who sends boxes of sardines as aid...and taking them back.

We understand from the constituents of Pokok Sena that Mahfuz appears only every now and then, and even then only at selected places. There are many who never sees him at all, only during elections.

To be an MB, maybe he needs to win the hearts of Kedahans first; maybe he needs to understand local politics first...and maybe go get more education first. With the development and economy of Kedah going to tatters, what can a jabber-mouth like mahfuz bring? KFA is just a bridge for him, nothing more.

Whether Kedahans will ever let the anwar ibrahim-backed Mahfuz is left to be seen. Of course, having mahfuz as MB can be quite an insult to Kedahans' intelligence. But for the moment, the race to topple Azizan as MB is heating up, and mahfuz has joined the fray. It's quite strange that pas used to make remarks about UMNO candidates' notorious methods during party nominations, because now they are complaining that pas candidates use dirtier tactics, with money politics and backstabbing only being the tip of the iceberg. That's understandable: ever since winning in the state of Kedah, pas leaders in the state has started turning on each other's throats, from positions, projects, GLCs and many more.

How much lower can pas in Kedah get? Grab a bag of popcorn, and sit down and watch. And somebody get mahfuz out of here.

Three years of pas ruling Kedah has only revealed more and more of their incompetency and shortcomings. Kedahans are sick and tired of pas' drama and bull, and the time has arrived to make a change; a change that will determine the future of Kedah and the people, free of pas and their inept administration and deceitful follies.

Hanging Out With Azizan and His Pas Boys.

'Tis the weekend that Malaysians await with bated breath over what's going to happen in the next few days. Yes, will Mr. Y provide his once-free-flowing DNA sample for justice or not. Well, deep in my heart, I feel that it will never happen. Sources close to PKR have revealed that Mr. Y is having sleepless nights, what with the demos held over several locations demanding that he provides the samples. I think there will be more demos to be held, most probably at the court. Despite most pas members feel the same way like most Malaysians, the party bigwigs are still trying to act as if anwar is innocent. Nice try, pas, but not doing that well, Malaysians know you need anwar despite being a liability.

The past few days, Kedahans have been flocking to the Karnival Kedah Sejahtera. Pas Kedah is currently celebrating their 3-years of ruling Kedah. Many of the stall-owners enjoy the brisk sales. Sadly, pas still had to import supporters in order to fill up the huge space during their ceramahs carried out during the fair. It's not that Kedahans are not interested in their ceramahs; it's just that they don't care. Who, in their right mind, would want to see a stuttering khalid ibrahim talk? Even bob lokman's name is not pulling in the crowd this time.

Words are going around fast in Kedah, and there are many who know that pas is desperately looking for support. An NGO known as Perkasa is gaining support from the Malay masses, and many from pas have joined the organization, much to pas Kedah’s chagrin. Why is that? Perkasa has been responsible for the Malays' return to UMNO, which seems to be kicking pas in the nuts during the previous by-elections. Maybe it's understandable why pas chose to use "Perkasa"kan Kedah Sejahtera" for the carnival, and part of Gelombang Merah's "Masa Untuk Berubah" tagline.

Despite the charade of a united front in pas Kedah, things are not that rosy, and I wouldn't even say that's behind-the-scenes. The person in the center of the quagmire is none other than azizan, the mb himself. By not conforming to pas pusat's wishes, azizan has earned the ire of hadi; and not giving in to the erdogans earned him the wrath of n.ajis and anwar. Anwar? Well, it came as no surprise, Azizan's relatives still remark how much Azizan hates anwar. Among the biggest trait of azizan that made almost everybody in pas hopping mad, is his admiration of Tun Mahathir. Azizan has been known to have met Tun on several occasions for advice. That could've been the last straw. Adding insult to injury is that azizan not only didn't bother when na.jis received the world-wide slap from Tun, he also put his thumbs up.

Azizan's choleric temper is also not helping pas Kedah’s cause...whatever they are. Wisma Darulaman's staffs have stated that azizan's exco meetings are legendary, and his choice of words used in anger pictures him as anything but Islamic. Betting on whether azizan will be using choice words during exco meetings nowadays have been considered lame, and they might expand the business to bets on which choice words he will choose.

Azizan's extreme short fuse and temperamental disposition has kept other Kedah pakatan members away, and only phahrolrazi is the only one willing to be close to him. Azizan has usually been described to a famous European, Rip Van Winkle, while most of his job has been carried out by amiruddin. Understandably, ameruddin has been claiming himself as the "Deputy Menteri Besar" despite there is no such position under the Kedah constitution. Adding to the turmoil is that lately it has been revealed that azizan has hand-picked and grooming

phahrolrazi to be his successor. This definitely does not gel well with amiruddin. That might explain why amiruddin "usurped" azizan's position during DYMM Sultan Kedah's birthday by being the head person to introduce members of the state government to HRH The Sultan of Kedah, while azizan stares from the back.

It's bad enough azizan is at odds with his exco and the other pakatan state assemblymen, it's worse when you know that he is also at odds with Taib Azamudeen. Well, he is also on the worst terms with mahfuz, but like pas always say, "Why bother, it's only mahpoos." If you're a pas Kedah member, maybe you'll understand why pas Kedah regards mahfuz as a comic relief. Great, who knows? Anwar might give Kedahans a clown for an MB like Selangor...not that we're far off at this moment.

It was told by Wisma staffs and media members how azizan was extremely angry after the Kedah flood of 2010, due to his administration in handling it. The inability of his exco members to answer and/or explain their whereabouts (or disappearance) during the flood only fueled the fire. The fuse was really lit when the reporter asked Azizan about his state government's failure. The media only tried to highlight the plight of the flood victims and that's how azizan reacted. Wow!

It is understandable how the fractured state government failed time and time again in dealing with the issues that really matters. With all the in-fighting, power-struggle within pas Kedah itself, we might see its disastrous result popping its head up soon. At this moment, pas Kedah are also roasting in their own juices with the Gelombang Merah, a wave brought by Mukhriz Mahathir. Why does it worry them? The younger generation has been flocking to the wave since it first landed, and they're still losing more. The so-called celebration held at Stadium Darulaman? That's a shameful sham, their 3 year rule is a disaster, judging from their failures in handling anything, from the nitty-gritty, right down to economy.

Kito Ase Oghe Kedoh...Really?

I understand that pas will be having a gathering, or a rally on this Saturday 19th of February 2011 at Kota Sarang Semut, supposedly to be a gathering of 30,000. Understandably, the population of Kedah, namely in Alor Setar has increased slightly. I wouls understand if Kedahans who support the deviated party return from the other states for this gathering, but the people I met are indeed northerners, but from a different coast.

It happens every time. Whenever pas holds a rally, ceramah, meeting, or some events that require huge crowds, there'll be buses from the east coast, bringing stacks of Kelantanese into the state. I must say it brings good business to Kedah, but socially, it is questionable. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Kelantanese, it's just some of the rotten apples that came along. One of the times they were here for the 2008 elections, they destroyed a Kemas kindergarten in Kuala Kedah, much to the anger of Azizan and local pas members, who send their children there.

There was a time I met a group of them during the Anak Bukit by-election after Fadzil Nor passed away. They proudly stated "Kita oghe kedoh!" Wrong dialect, brother...and to go to Alor Setar, you turn right at the junction, not left. That explains why people in Anak Bukit were laughong their socks off as well. Another thing: eating roti canai with dhal and sugar is NOT Kedahan at all. To blend in, go and practice first, for goodness sake.

Looking at the number of chartered buses arriving in Alor Setar and east coast dialect in Alor Setar, one can easily guess who will be the majority crowd during the up-coming rally. Despite pas claiming everybody in Kedah backs them, they still end up with less and less people attending their ceramahs. Perhaps that's why they have to import supporters. Let's hope that they're not here under state's expense. But not to worry there, Kedah state has no money to do so anyway.

Anyway, as expected Datuk Mukhriz' Gelombang Merah Berani Berubah and Masa Untuk Berubah  sure left a mark on pas. They even decided to name their rally cry "Masa Untuk Berubah" as well.

I'm still trying to figure this out: anwar's link with the jewish lobbyists/sponsorers and his noose-tinghtening sodomy trial, pas under the deviating n.ajis splitting Muslims and Malays, dap's anti-Islam stand...what in the world does pas' Masa Untuk Berubah means to change? Change to mahfuz perhaps?

If Mukhriz Returns, Does UMNO Kedah Dare To Change

It is a busy month, but I did manage to attend my niece's birthday last week. My sister in law prmised me that there will be clowns and I was very excited. However, I was utterly disappointed when there were 2 actual clowns; I could've sworn I heard she said there'll be mat sabu and mahfuz, the usual clowns.

Lo and behold, in my times of absence, there were countless sms flying in, buzzing of the return of Mukhriz to the much ravaged state of Kedah, depleted by the savage untrained fingers of pas, denying their failures in helping out the Kedahans.

This is going to be a short article, I am still collecting data from different camps of pas and UMNO. We already know the sweaty-browed reaction by the pas camp, especially from mahfuz after realizing that he might not have the chance to kick azizan in the butt and usurp the throne. In the UMNO camp however, there has been a very busy influx of lobbyibg from the old horse such as det khalid, bashah, tajuddin kentucky and even mat lebai sudin, and the stronger rumor of the return of Mukhriz really making muddied waters murkier for them.

For the time being, if Mukhriz is willing to lead Kedah, will UMNO dare to change from their usual "little boy lost" attitude? We know Kedahans have been wishing for his return for some time already. What about det khalid, jo baharum and the rest of the unwanted crew?

Was The Week Supposed To Be Like This?

While anwar is playing a lot of bollywood comedy in the court this week, there was a lot of giggling going on when the MB of Kedah, Azizan stated that the state is considering its own dissolution of the State Assembly. The giggling? Oh right, well, many people knew that this was another hard attempt on distraction from any issues on what is the state up to right now in assisting the flood victims.

I might sound narcistic in keeping this "old" issue of the Kedah floods, but now that the water has subsided, nothing much has been done. Maybe Azizan and his cohorts are breathing a few sighs of relief, but the aftermath has been a constant burn in his sleep. The flood waters brought so much debris that became clogs in the drainage system. Sure the rain is not as heavy and constant as before but every time a heavy thunderst6orm decides to pass by, the drainage system fails to divert the incoming volume of water, which in turn causes flash floods and more traumatic woes to the victims who have already suffered. Well, Azizan, despite the weather outside, it's not all bright and sunny day yet, and don't fall asleep yet.

Another reason for azizan not to fall asleep is a person who might just threaten his seat and successor. Yes, we're talking about the all wind and mouth, but no brain mahfuz. Yes, despite pas members have been laughing at him behind his back (lucky it wasn't anwar), he is back, lurking around and his eyes are really fixed on the seat of Azizan's. It has always been an open secret that azizan has no desire (or wits) to be the MB for a 2nd term, and he has already hand-picked and groomed his successor, much to the aghast of his hard working "Deputy." Mahfuz' casting himself into the much murky pool might just threat the succession plans. On the other hand, anybody replacing him can never go any lower after that, because we already had mahfuz as mb. Boy, when you think you can't go any lower after Pak Lah...

I don't have much confidence in Bashah, Det Khalid and many more in UMNO Kedah, but still, I mist take my hat off and give the respect deserved for the tireless efforts on their part during the floods. Yes, I keep bumping into them on the roads and areas during the floods. Keep up the good work. We'll deal politics with you after this...yes, yes, get ready for bantering.

Now we turn to one of the most loathed individual ever to exist in Malaysia. No, no, we're not talking about mahfuz again, we're talking about the other loathsome one, though slightly useful, Khairy Jamalludin. This is the guy who won the Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia after a gutsy 10(?) hour vote counting, followed by the rhythmic, victorious chant of "KJ RASUAH!" We have seen this week on the talks of a cabinet reshuffle and/or not, and the most worrying among all, and dreaded by almost every single Malaysian, is that rumors are spread that KJ might be a Deputy Minister. On the other hand, rumors also stated that Mukhriz will be a full Minister (good rumor, that). We can almost hear everybody getting to arms with the KJ news. Well, unless Najib has a political death wish or a wildly bizarre sense of humor, we hope this will never happen. Of course, we hope Mukhriz would be a Minister, although we feel that he's in an even better position if he returns to lead Kedah.

Why not KJ? Do I have to explain? Someone branded this guy as "Anwar's Apprentice" once, and how surprising can it get? He rose through the ranks just like anwar, much to everybody's chagrin, and became one of Malaysia's back-seat ruler during pak lah. God knows what will happen if this feathered-duck upstrart gets to be a minister. Then again, his loyalists have been lobbying and campaigning for KJ for a ministrial post for quite some time already, which shows how insensitive they are the wishes of fellow Malaysians.

Well, who would ever believe it? On the state level, you have a clown vying for the highest seat in Kedah and on a federal level, you have an unwanted has-been trying to claw his way in. It has been a week, it could've been better.

Voices Up North : Whispers In The Wind

Well, those pakatan twerps are still doing the work of 3 people: Larry, Curly and Moe. They were seen a few days ago placing banners of themselves on the road to parliament, in protest of an UMNO banner which was

placed somewhere there as well. It's nice to see the Malays of pas and pkr hanging up the posters and banners of dap and pas, while the Chinese and Indians also hanging up the dap materials. It's amusing to see the Chinese and Indian pakatan members not even touching pas posters and banners, not even with a 10 foot stick. I am still wondering why. Maybe that's why they still worship Anwar's 1-All-Seeing-Eye.

Anyway, let's leave the red monkeys flying banners and posters up their respective... ummm... wherever they want to stick it and return up north. Since last year, there were whispers of a new Ketua Perhubungan Negeri for UMNO Kedah to replace the present Shafiee Afdal. But all of the rumors seem to die down after time. Every few months, you'll hear this again and again, and the UMNO warlords had to go all out to put out this fire. Alas, nowadays, the whispers are not whispering anymore, it's getting louder. And the wind carrying the whispers seem to blow faster and faster and you can almost smell the whiff of fear permeating in the air, mostly coming from the camps of the old UMNO warlords.

At this moment, nobody can attest to the authencity of this new Ketua Perhubungan Negeri. Even at that, in so many places, one name has been cropping up, and that will be Mukhriz Mahathir. I wouldn't be scratching my head if Jerlun and/or Kubang Pasu talks of him, but to have areas such as Baling, Sungai Petani and even Jerai? Now that's a name that spells change for Kedah and the state UMNO.

If it is true, if Mukhriz is the UMNO Kedah's Ketua Perhubungan Negeri, then finally the grassroots, instead of their state leaders, will finally get what they have always wanted, and that's maybe the first time since pak lah. Some people did declare that they did wish Najib would listen to the grassroots instead of the Ketua Cawangan or Bahagian. If this happens, maybe he did. And if he did, it's about time. Kedahans are sick and tired of the dundering blockheads...no, not mahfuz, that have been running the state from one disaster to another, to which the water problem sees no solution. It doesn't matter what pas supporters say because, all their defenses will still give no water to those affected areas. And of course, we are also sick to the stomach with old umno humpty dumptys (the warlords), who are scrambling to get positions for themselves, and most of Najib's men could never put all these humpty dumptys together again.

It must also be said that it will not be an easy road for Mukhriz if the rumors are right. He will have to work hard to establish his own footing, away from the shadows of his father in Kedah. Support from grassroots might not be much of a problem but he still needs to prove his worth. To achieve all of these might prove to be a road full of treachery for him, as we have seen what happened to his father in Kubang Pasu in the nomination to be a delegate last time. Most treacheries might be from within the state, and there might be one or two from somewhere in-between the country's capital and it's southern neighbor. Mukhriz might also find that the son of his father's closest neighbor in Kedah to be such a noisy fly. Well, it will be more noisy with the MB's chair up for grabs in a few years.

The hesitant icon of Kedah shall return? Will we see drastic measures of change sweeping up UMNO Kedah? It is about time those useless UMNO warlords find the exits waiting for them. While waiting for this, I'll just brush up on this nice 70s song by a group called Steam called Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye...
